Day 26 - 20.08.15 - Saigon Zoo

We decided that we would go to the zoo today as we got up a bit later and it would be a nice relaxing thing to do. The zoo was supposedly quite good with lots of different animals. Kelsey was especially excited to get a selfie with a giraffe. Our hostel is in a really good location, right in the middle of lots of activities so it only took 5 mins to get there.
We even saw a baby White Bengal tiger. It must have been its first time out of the den as it was in and out in seconds. I didn't manage to get a picture :( . But here is a picture of mum snarling at Sophie and Kelsey as they walked over to the enclosure.
Kelsey did not get on with the animals too well at all; a gibbon put his hand out through the bars of its cage and threw a rock or something at her!!! And talking about monkeys... One escaped:
No really, one actually did escape. A baby monkey was small enough to sneak through the bars and into the trees next to its enclosure!!
Sophie also got followed/stalked around the entire zoo just so a boy could have a picture with her!!
We had a good time at the zoo, although the cages were inadequate and the animals did not have a lot of space and obviously not much care (a chimpanzee had a prolapse!) which was heartbreaking. As we were leaving, it started to rain and we got drenched. We aptly made it to a cafe called rain where we had dinner and an ice cream coffee. Yum yum!!
