Day 29 - 23.08.15 - Nha Trang

Auntie Ruth has pointed out that we thoroughly enjoyed day 21, so much so that we did it twice!! I've changed the dates but apologies if it means the blog is now out of sync!
We all slept fairly well on the night bus. We had a three bed bunk at the back of the bus. It was slightly claustrophobic but very cosy. The bus journey took 9 and a half hours but we are now in sunny Nha Trang!
We arrived at our hotel 'Rex Nha Trang' a little earlier than planned so we have left our bags and are in a cafe having breakfast. The cafe is called Bali Coffee. Sophie and I tried a Bali Coffee, and it was like an upside down cafetière, and the coffee drained into a glass. It was mixed with condensed milk making it very sweet. I loved it, but Sophie was Mr as keen. Kelsey had a tea with condensed milk and loved that also.
We all had spaghetti beef for breakfast which is a sort of sweet and sour spaghetti bolognese. Bizarre but quit tasty.
We also had the best ever orange juice!
We are now just relaxing and may head to the beach for a bit whilst our room is being prepared.

We checked in to our room, freshened up and then headed to the beach.
The beach is a 20 minute walk from the hotel and is beautiful.
Kelsey and I made good use of the beach bars with a kiwi mojito!
We spent all day on the beach which was a well deserved treat after nearly 5 weeks of travelling! We have chosen to come to Nha Trang especially for the beaches and are using are last week as more of a holiday rather than travelling (be prepared for many beach photos and sausage legs!!!)

------------------------------------------------

The restaurant tonight had no English on the menu, so dinner was a guessing game. I have downloaded an app called Triposo which is a really good travel guide. It also has a phrase book handy for dinner! I found how to say "is there a local specialty?". She pointed to the menu and after much use of google translate we found that it was fried perch. We decided to try it. Just in case there was not enough food, we decided to order two different portions of fried vegetable. What came was essentially Vietnamese fish and chips. Well at least we tried!!
Kelsey and I decided we would name each fish before we ate them - Brenda, Boris, Barbara, Janice etc. It tasted like crispy. But good fun.
We are now back at the hotel and about to watch Shrek.

  1. The bus looks groooovy - like psychedelic, man. Hotel looks great, beach looks great. Time for some serious chillin' I think!
