Day 16 - 10.08.15 - Floating Markets

We got up at about quarter past 6 this morning so that we could get the minibus to the floating markets. The drive was an hour and a half. When we got there, we had to take a 20 minute motor boat to another dock before we could get into a paddle boat to go around the markets. The driver took great pleasure in trying to splash us with the water created by the wake of other boats.
We had to walk through a small market to get to the paddle boats. It was full of souvenir's and coconut ice cream. We had to pay 150Baht to go for a 30minute paddle boat ride around the markets. It was very short and sweet, but an experience that we all enjoyed! Sophie and I bought some Mango Rice for breakfast which was very nice. The markets were unfortunately very touristy and sold a lot of tat, but the food they sold smelt lovely.
We then had about an hour and a half to wander through the markets. We bought some coconut ice cream which was sprinkled with cashew nuts and very tasty. We got attacked by flies and had Al had enough by the time our driver came to pick us up.
We got back to the hostel at 1pm, and have just been recovering from our early start. I ordered a green curry from the hostel restaurant and then went into Bangkok to stretch my legs.
Sophie and I decided we would like to go to a sky bar tonight. We went to Sofitel So Bangkok and it was super super nice!
I ordered a lychee and rose martini and Soohie had a French Revolution. They were delicious. We then shared a cocktail of the month.
We had a lovely evening. Now looking forward to seeing the elephants tomorrow!
